Lisland Rainforest Resort opened to public in January 5, 1994 .
It originally started as a summer retreat for the Lourdes Ichon Sison Family. The legacy of Lourdes Sison, fondly remembered as Mama Loleng, was to value the family and keep family ties as close as possible. She built an ancestral home in the 5-hectare property that encouraged and fostered family bonding. For years, the ancestral grounds became the vacation retreat for the exclusive use of family members. However, since the vacation retreat would only be used about two to three times a year, a proposition developed for a place which could generate full utilisation of the property, as well as provide a recreational facility for the community. Urdaneta, then a growing town, still lacked a recreational facility which offered swimming. The nearest swimming pool was either located in the local hotel or public pool, some 25 kilometers away or alternatively, the beaches of San Fabian, Lingayen and Dagupan.
Lisland Rainforest Resort opened with 12 cabana rooms, with a hotel pool that was open not only for hotel guests but to the public, as well. The development of a picnic ground with nipa huts and snack bar later expanded into a resort, offering first class restaurant, cottages and seminar/convention facilities. What was originally conceived as an exclusive summer retreat for the Sison Family has grown into a full service resort for general patronage.
Lisland Rainforest Resort is located in Km. 182 McArthur Hi-way, San Vicente, Urdaneta City, Pangasinan. Lisland is along the highway, 150 meters away from the junction leading to Dagupan to the west and Baguio to the north. The Resort sits on five hectares land covered with 800 full-grown trees such as acacia, mango, ipil-ipil and other fruit trees, which gave rise to the “Rainforest” in the resort’s name.
